Among the most notable buildings in Calella\u2019s historic centre is the Archpriest\u2019s Church of Santa Mar\u00eda and San Nicol\u00e1s, built in 1747. Just a few metres away stands the Old Town Hall. The squares surrounding these buildings host a variety of cultural events and leisure activities throughout the year. <\/p>\n

You can make the most of your stroll by wandering through the streets, discovering local shops and looking for a restaurant where you can sample specialities from the Maresme region. Visit the Calella Lighthouse<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Perched on high ground by the sea, the Calella Lighthouse<\/a><\/strong> is one of the town\u2019s landmarks. On the site where it now stands, there used to be an old watchtower and defence structure, which was responsible for monitoring and protecting the coast against the threat of attacks by Algerian pirates. The current lighthouse, classified as a third-order lighthouse, was inaugurated in December 1859. <\/div>\n

As well as its historical significance, its location offers magnificent views of the coast and the Montnegre Natural Park. You\u2019ll also find a lighthouse interpretation centre which you can visit to learn more about its history and how it works. <\/div>\n

Discover the history of Les Torretes<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From the lighthouse, you can continue your walk to Les Torretes. These towers were built in 1857 as part of the optical telegraph line linking Montju\u00efc with La Jonquera, and ceased to operate in 1862 with the advent of the electric telegraph. <\/p>\n

These old optical telegraph towers are situated on high ground and offer one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Calella, overlooking the sea and the surrounding countryside.<\/p>\n

A stroll through Dalmau Park<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dalmau Park<\/strong> is one of Calella\u2019s most important green spaces and a lovely place for a peaceful stroll, to rest and enjoy a relaxing morning. If you\u2019re travelling with children, it\u2019s also a great option to include in your itinerary, as you\u2019ll find various areas where they can play and enjoy the surroundings. <\/p>\n

Inside the park, in the area known as the Pati de l\u2019\u00d3s<\/em> (Bear\u2019s Courtyard), the Aplec de la Sardana de Calella<\/strong><\/a> is held on the first Sunday in June. During the town\u2019s annual festival, it\u2019s also common to find activities and the occasional concert. <\/p>\n

You can also visit the air-raid shelter in Dalmau Park<\/a><\/strong>, a historic site that has been restored and offers an insight into a part of Calella\u2019s history during the Civil War.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
