Four days of tradition and culture with Calella\u2019s Aplec de la Sardana
<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>

From May 29 to June 1, 2025, Calella becomes the capital of the sardana with the 97th edition of the <\/span>Aplec de la Sardana<\/b>, also known as <\/span>l\u2019Aplec Pairal de Catalunya<\/span><\/i>. This event pays tribute to the sardana, Catalonia\u2019s most emblematic dance, performed in a circle with joined hands, following the rhythm of a cobla, and symbolizing unity and equality among dancers. It also celebrates the city’s open, cheerful, and welcoming spirit. With over 90 years of history, this is the oldest aplec and one of the most anticipated events in the Catalan cultural calendar.<\/span><\/p>

The sardanista spirit of Calella<\/b><\/h3>

Organised by the <\/span>Agrupaci\u00f3 Sardanista de Calella<\/b>, the Aplec engages the entire city. For four days, festive energy takes over venues like Parc Dalmau, Passeig Manuel Puigvert, and Pla\u00e7a de l\u2019Ajuntament, where sardana dancers from all over Catalonia gather.<\/span><\/p>

The programme<\/a><\/strong> begins on Thursday, May 29, with <\/span>\u201cLa Pr\u00e8via: l\u2019Aplec ens canta!\u201d<\/span><\/i>, a participatory concert at Caf\u00e9 de la Sala Mozart, featuring artists such as Carles Belda, Glosa Ca\u00fastica, Berta Llos, Esther Santos, and Jordi Molina. From Friday onwards, there will be auditions, parades, competitions, and family-friendly musical activities, including a spectacular <\/span>night-time double performance<\/b> by some of the top coblas in the country.<\/span><\/p>

Full programme: music, tradition, and emotion<\/b><\/h3>

Friday, May 30<\/b>, begins with a <\/span>parade<\/span><\/i> through Calella\u2019s town centre, followed by the official opening speech and the first double performance by <\/span>Principal del Llobregat<\/b> and <\/span>Bisbal Jove<\/b>. On Saturday afternoon, Passeig Manuel Puigvert hosts a moving <\/span>cobla music concert<\/b>, featuring pieces celebrating local anniversaries and Catalan musical heritage. In the evening, the two coblas return to the stage with a vibrant selection of sardanes such as <\/span>\u201cEl bullici de Santa Creu\u201d<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>\u201cSomni de pla\u00e7a\u201d<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>\u201cRecord de Terrassa\u201d<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>

On <\/span>Sunday, June 1<\/b>, the Aplec starts with the traditional <\/span>Diada d\u2019Aplec<\/b>, held morning and afternoon in the Pati de l\u2019\u00d3s in Parc Dalmau. Coblas including <\/span>La Marinada<\/b>, <\/span>Principal del Llobregat<\/b>, <\/span>Principal de la Bisbal<\/b>, and <\/span>Els Montgrins<\/b> will perform more than 40 sardanes. There will also be an <\/span>improvised group contest<\/b>, a popular vote for the year\u2019s best sardana, and a small artisan fair organised by Petits Creadors.<\/span><\/p>
