September 2026 monthly calendar for Calella

September in Calella is all about tranquillity, fewer visitors and plenty to see and do. As well as enjoying its beaches thanks to the pleasant weather that usually graces the town at this time of year, Calella offers a wide range of activities and events for all ages.

Throughout September, you can enjoy festivals such as the Harmonica Festival and the Folklore Festival, celebrate the Minerva Festival and take part in or watch a variety of sporting events, including the Travessia, Aquathlon, and football and basketball tournaments, among others.

Places of interest in Calella:

  • The Exhibition Room in the Old Town Hall (pl. de l’Ajuntament, 1-3) Open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 h, Tuesday to Saturday from 18:00 to 21:00 h, and Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 h. Free entrance. Temporary exhibition: “Representing light” by the artist Neil Holliday.
  • *Tourism Museum (c. Sant Pere, 122-140) Open Monday to Saturday from 17:00 to 21:00 h and Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 h and 17:00 to 21:00 h. Temporary exhibition: “The Mediterranean, a sea of heritage”.
  • *Calella Municipal Museum, Josep M. Codina i Bagué (c. Escoles Pies, 36) Open Tuesday to Saturday from 18:00 to 21:00 h and Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 h. Temporary exhibition: “Calella 1925: From town to city”.
  • *Calella Lighthouse and Interpretation Centre (ctra. Nacional II, km. 666) Open Tuesday to Sunday, and public holidays from 17:00 to 21:00 h.
  • *Air Raid Shelter in the Dalmau Park (in the children’s play area) Open Tuesday to Sunday, and public holidays from 10.00 to 14.00 h.
  • Chapel of Sant Quirze & Santa Julita (c. de Francesc Bartrina, 18) All year round, from Monday to Friday, except public holidays, from 9:00 h. to 14:00 h. It is necessary to arrange a visit in advance by calling 93 769 51 02 or by email to museumunicipal@calella.cat.

FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER

From the 4th to the 12th of September, different city spots, 54th International Folklore Festival (JIF).
12.30 h, Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament): 54th International Folklore Festival with performances by
groups from Panama, Poland and Mexico. In case of rain, it will be suspended.
20.00 h, from the Sant Joan street, International Folklore Festival Parade with the following local groups:
Capgròs Folk, Pubillatge de Calella, Colla de Geganters i Grallers de Calella, Udols de Foc Diables de Calella,
Esbart Joventut Nostra – Sant Jordi and Cobla dels Lluïsos de Taradell, as well as the international groups of
Panama, Poland and Mexico. Route: Sant Joan Street, Church, Church Square, Bisbe Sivilla Street, Town Hall
Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament).
21.00 h, Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament), Inauguration of the International Folklore Festival 2026
“32 years in Calella”. Live performances by the groups of Panama, Poland, Mexico, and Catalonia. In case of rain,
the event will be held in the beach marquee.

SATURDAY 5 SEPTEMBER

05 to 06 of September, 09.00 – 21.00 h, Tomàs Claramunt Sports Complex, BRAVA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT.

05 to 06 of September, 09.00 – 20.00 h, Column Hall in the Llobet Factory, Darts Championship.

11.00 – 12.30 h, Riera Capaspre, Folklore Market and Traditional Catalan Sardana Dance Workshop for the
54th International Folklore Festival. In case of rain, the event will be held in the Sala Mozart.

19.00 h, Calella Lighthouse, XIV Meeting of Lighthouse Keepers, Family Members and Friends of the Lighthouses, with the following book presentations: “Els fars de Catalunya, el patrimoni inseparable de la costa”, by David Moré Aguirre and Joaquin Sitjà Subirana, and “Quan tu te’n vas queden les cartes”, by Mercè Rigo Grimalt. Performance by the Calella Lighthouse Keepers and refreshments for attendees. Free admission.

SUNDAY 6 SEPTEMBER

10.00 – 14.00 h, Promenade of Manuel Puigvert, Exchange and collectables market.

11.30 – 12.30 h, from Riera Capaspre, 54th International Folklore Festival parade. Route: Riera Capaspre to the Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament). And afterwards, traditional dances in the Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament) with the group from Mexico. In case of rain, the event will be held in the Sala Mozart.

12.00, Josep M. Codina i Bagué Municipal Museum, Calella: Guided tour (in Catalan). Free event. No booking required.

16.00 – 23.00 h, Riera Capaspre, Summer Fair.

19.30 – 21.30 h, Promenade of Manuel Puigvert,
Sardanas Concert by La Principal del Llobregat
orchestra. In case of bad weather, it will be postponed.

MONDAY 7 SEPTEMBER

18.30 h, Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament): 54th International Folklore Festival. Concert of “Music from around the world” with groups from Panama, Poland and Mexico as well as the local group Grallers de Calella. In case of rain, it will be held in the Sala Mozart.

*21.00 h, Parish Church of Santa Maria & Sant Nicolau, Tribute Concert to Paco de Lucía by Marc Segura.

WEDNESDAY 9 SEPTEMBER

11.00 – 12.30 h and 18.00 – 19.30 h, from Riera Capaspre, parade of the 54th International Folklore Festival. Route: Riera Capaspre, Riera street, Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament). Afterwards, dances in the Town Hall Square with the group from Poland (morning) and Panama (afternoon). In case of rain, the event will be held in the Sala Mozart.

THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER

10 to 13 of September, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival.

18.15 h, Church Square, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival with a concert by Joan Pau Cumellas & Lust’n’Found + other artists. Free entrance.

**21.00 h in the beach marquee, inaugural concert of the 5 edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival with SOBA and Vincent Bucher (afroblues). Bar service and snacks.

21.00 h, from the Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament), March of Torches for Independence.

21.30 h, Catalunya Square, Botifarrada (Catalan pork sausage cookout) and Habanera Concert for the National Day of Catalonia.

10.00 h, Can Salom first floor (c/ Església, 91), 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Harmonica introductory workshop for all ages with Sergi Raya. Free activity.

11.00 h, from Riera Capaspre to the Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament), Farewell Parade of the 54th International Folklore Festival and, afterwards, dance demonstrations from the countries of Panama, Poland
and Mexico in the Town Hall Square (plaça de l’Ajuntament). In case of rain, the event will be held in the Sala Mozart.

18.15 h, Church Square, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Harmonica Reunion concert. Harmonica concert in Calella centre with the festival artists. Free activity.

**21.00 h, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Concert by Joan Pau Cumellas & Lust’n’Found. Bar service and snacks.

**22.00 h, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Concert by Diego Villegas & Víctor Franco. A unique show that fuses flamenco, jazz and music styles from around the world. Bar service and snacks.

23.00 h, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Closing Jam Session with the participation of the festival artists. Free entrance.

SUNDAY 13 SEPTEMBER

10.00 h, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Masterclass by Quim Roca, “Harmonic and conscious breathing”. Free entrance.

12.00 h, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Closing concert by the Calella Harmonica Band. Free entrance.

13.30 h, in the beach marquee, 5th edition of the Calella Harmònica Festival. Closing lunch with a popular fish and seafood rice dish. Tickets sold at the marquee from 10 am. Price: €17 (includes bread, drink and dessert).
