TRAIN

It is an option that will allow you to make trips in an economical, comfortable and fast way. In addition, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful sea views during all along the journey.

What should you keep in mind?

  • The landing can be in two different terminals

Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2). The airport train station is located on T2, but if you land on T1, don’t worry, there is a free shuttle bus that connects the two terminals 24 hours a day.

Bus crossing frequency

From 0:00 to 5:00: every 20 minutes approx.
5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. : Every 15 minutes.
8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. : every 10 minutes.
from 20:00 to 0:00 : every 15 minutes
The tour takes about 10 minutes

This is the current schedule (07/09/2021), however, for possible variations in the schedule, you can check the schedules here.

  • You will need to make a transfer

You will need to take 2 trains (R2 and R1). You will leave the airport (remember that from T2) with the R2 line. The journey from the airport to Barcelona-Sants takes about 20 minutes.

When you arrive in Barcelona-Sants, you will have to get off and transfer by taking the R1, which will take you to Calella. The connection is very good and fast, as it can be done within the same station (Barcelona Sants). You will only need to buy 1 ticket at the airport station and it will be enough to go to Calella. Along the way, you will enjoy the stunning sea views. The journey takes approximately 55 min – 1h.

Check schedules here.

  • When you arrive in Calella

When you arrive at Calella station, you have several options to get to the Hotel Bernat II. On the one hand, considering the fantastic train station location (in the city center), you can get there perfectly on foot (15-20 min). On the other hand, if you carry a lot of luggage, there is a taxi rank right outside the door.

BUS

Going by bus to Calella is also a very good option, as you won’t have to make transfers and there is a stop right in front of the Hotel Bernat II (St. Jaume – Mar).

What should you keep in mind?

  • Airport stops

You can take the bus from two different stops at the airport, at Terminal T1 on platforms 10-11-12 or at Terminal T2 C Interurban. If you arrive at a different terminal, do not worry, there is a free shuttle bus service that makes connections between the terminals 24 hours a day.

  • Buy ticket

In order to be able to buy the ticket, we recommend you to do it through the website so that you do not have to worry about queues.

  • Frequency

It is important to note that the frequency of the bus is not as high as the train ones (every 2 or 3 hours). However, if the timetables coincide with your flight, it is a very interesting option considering that it leaves you in front of the Hotel Bernat II and you won’t have to do the transfer. Check schedules here.

ORGANIZED TRANSPORT

On the other hand, if you wish, we can arrange a private transfer for you only. Write to us at hotelbernat@hotelbernat.com and we will inform you.

If you prefer a shared transfer, we recommend you look at the page www.barcelonatransfers.com where you can book the service that suits you best.

Enjoy Calella and the Maresme area with your family.

Calella is, among the Costa de Barcelona towns with the Family Tourism Destination (DTF) seal, the largest and the one with more activities on offer for families with children. If you have kids, you are probably looking for a comfortable and safe destination to go on holiday where your children can stay constantly busy while the older ones can enjoy the peace that allows you to disconnect. Calella, then, is the ideal choice. It is a small town in the Maresme region located one hour away from Barcelona. It is very accessible, as it can be reached both by train, perfectly connected to all the cities in the area, and by car, as it has perfectly connected roads.

It is true that September begins, but … Who says that means that the summer is ending? In Calella we are lucky to enjoy a warm and temperate climate that allows us to continue enjoying the holidays and our beautiful beaches during the days of September. At the Hotel Bernat II, we love to take advantage of the summer until the last moment and we want you to do the same, the number of plans that can be done in our city is a lot and what better way to do them with the family to finish squeezing the holidays. To plan these sunny days before you start the routine, we give you a series of ideas of places to visit and activities to do so you don’t get bored for a moment.

NAVIGATE THROUGH THE CALELLA SEA

Enjoy a boat ride along the Costa de Calella with Dofí Jet Boats. This company has a regular line of maritime passenger transport authorized by the Generalitat de Catalunya and offers boat trips by sea to enjoy the coast of Barcelona via Calella. The route allows you to observe the long and wide beaches of golden sand to the mouth of the Tordera, the city of Blanes with the rock of Sa Palomera as the welcome door to the Costa Brava and the tourist area of Lloret de Mar. In its boats you can discover the beautiful fauna of the seabed thanks to the underwater view that will delight the little ones in the house. There is also a solarium, toilets, music and a bar. It is a practical and different way to visit the most beautiful villages on the Costa Brava: you can stroll through the botanical garden of Blanes, the beaches of Lloret de Mar and discover the medieval town of Tossa, declared a National Historic Artistic Monument.

You can take it from 09:00am to 17:00pm and you can check the schedules here. You can buy tickets both at the box office (which you will find at Garbí Beach, right in front of the Bahari Club, the Beach Club of the Hotel Bernat II) but we recommend you do so through the website, as this way you will be able to enjoy a 10% discount!

DISCOVER THE FLORA AND FAUNA OF THE CITY

From the Hotel Bernat II we invite you to discover the flora and fauna of a place that integrates in full harmony the sea and the mountain. These are short and easy routes that will allow you to get to know the city and its surroundings in a different way. In addition, we consider that during the month of September, it is an ideal time to make these small excursions, as the weather is not so hot and in addition, there are fewer tourists.

Squirrel Route at Calella

The Squirrel Route is a small route that is part of the nature itineraries of Calella. It is very well signposted along its route, with a squirrel on a red background. It has a length of 3km and a duration of 1 hour. It is a circular route so it will not be necessary to make a return trip.

It is a walk through Calella that begins in the Plaza de Sant Elm, follows the Platja Gran beach, goes up the streets of the village towards the Muntanyeta sports area, visits the Dalmau Park and returns to the beach passing by the Plaza de Spain. Dalmau Park is a magnificent natural space with gardens and an example of the typical Mediterranean forest with pine trees and holm oaks ideal for enjoying nature and rest.

Sea Crow Route

The Sea Crow Route is a small excursion that is part of the nature itineraries of Calella which is perfectly signposted along its route with a cormorant on a blue circle. Its difficulty is low-medium with a length of 3km and a duration of approximately 1 hour and a half.

It is a perfect walk that follows the seafront of Calella from Garbí beach to La Cabra beach, passing by Valldenguli and Torretes. This route allows us to observe the cormorants drying on the rocks and get to know the Mediterranean landscape full of bushes and pine forests where the birds hide.

Guilla Route

We present a small route that is part of the nature itineraries of Calella. This is the Guilla route, which has a medium-high difficulty with a length of 10km and a duration of 2h and 30 min. This is very well signposted along its route, as route number 3 with the symbol of a fox and a yellow background.

The route starts at Garbí beach, the beach where the Hotel Bernat II is located, and leaves behind the town of Calella to climb the Sierra de Guilles, a biological corridor that allows the connectivity of the Parc del Monte-gre and Corridor with the Mediterranean coast. The route goes through a typical Mediterranean landscape dominated by cork oak, siliceous bushes, crops and dry grasslands where animals such as squirrel, badger, genet and guilla abound, the mammal that gives the route its name.
